The most important thing is to ensure complete rest, restrict jumping, and prevent licking of the wound (using a protective collar or medical shirt is essential). Start feeding only when the pet is fully awake from anesthesia, in small portions. Detailed individual instructions will be provided when you pick up your pet from the clinic.

For blood tests and abdominal ultrasounds, the pet must arrive on a fasting diet (8–12 hours without food). Water is allowed. If the bladder is to be examined, it is recommended that the animal has not urinated for a few hours before the visit.

If your pet vomited only once but remains energetic, withhold food for 6–12 hours, monitor their condition, and provide water in small amounts. If vomiting repeats, the animal becomes lethargic, vomits blood, or cannot keep water down – contact our clinic immediately due to the risk of rapid dehydration.

Lethargy and loss of appetite are the first signs of many serious illnesses (including tick-borne babesiose). If this condition lasts longer than 24 hours or you notice other symptoms (fever, altered urine color, diarrhea), please schedule a visit immediately.
